“HakJak is Dead, Long Live HakJak!”
Last year, HakJak Studios was unexpectedly shut down by our parent company just before the Holidays. The dreams of myself and 16 other creatives instantly vanished.
It’s time for change.
The gaming industry is plagued with stories of reckless business decisions, burnt employees, and tired franchises. Every dollar and hour that goes into poorly managed, greed-driven corporations is another vote for more of the same. But we can change this.
Collectively, indie game developers and studios can make a real difference by practicing sustainable growth and reducing market/attention share from business behemoths that value money over humanity and this medium we love.
I want to be the change.
This year, I am returning to solo indie game development as simply “HakJak”.
I’m starting over with a new perspective, refreshed branding, and new ways of doing everything, based on all I’ve learned in this industry over the past several years.
My mission is to make real connections with people passionate about games like you, fearlessly explore new project concepts together, and then bring our favorites to life as uninhibited as possible by external influences.
To everyone who has followed my journey thus far, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. If this message resonates with you or would inspire someone else, please share it.
Let’s make 2024 a year of new beginnings and remarkable creations!
Sincerely,
