Meet Robert Rose!

As a young lad, Robert Rose was mesmerized and perplexed by 3D graphics in games. He thought "These must be live action dioramas or actors… or some sort of magic!"  This fascination led him to experimenting with his own graphics for games and even though they looked a bit like sprites drawn in MS Paint, they set the path towards a talented career!

Robert's fascination with 3D graphics continued as he explored the special effects in movies.  He immersed himself in every behind-the-scenes VFX breakdown he came across, and especially enjoyed the documentary Walking with Dinosaurs.  There was just something magical about seeing these computer-generated creatures come to life on the screen.  He knew he wanted to do something like that, but at the time it felt like results that could only be done by big companies with their state-of-the-art laser scanners and supercomputers.

Thankfully, Robert discovered a whole host of cool game mods and fan films as the internet blossomed, and it made him realize "Hey, I can do that too!"

And he did.

With his newfound skills, Robert zealously jumped into some overly ambitious mod projects, such as a total Star Wars conversion mod for an RTS game and several others.  Despite the project eventually fizzling out due to scope creep and the challenges of working with an international team across many time zones, Robert had some amazing experiences and learned a great deal of invaluable skills in 3D art that would help him make his way into the games industry.

After finishing up school at Boston University, Robert landed a gig in Product Visualization.  There he created photo-realistic renders and real time models.  His hard surface modeling skills evolved quickly, allowing him to climb the ranks there and lead other artists.

But the siren song of games kept calling his name and the fate of Mr. Rose and HakJak Studios crossed paths at just the right time.  Welcome to the team Robert!
