new year, new me, new logo

What's goes into making a logo?

For me, this new evolution of HakJak is very personal. I want my logo and online persona to reflect that.

I sat down with my iPad and stylus and began to draw.

I started first with the avatar: a smiley-face skull, engulfed in magical flames.

The smiley face skull represents me. Battered by life, but unbroken. Grinning in the face of challenges and ready to make the most of every situation, every day. Undying tenacity and a love for life. An eternal adventurer.

Also, I just like skulls and think they're cool.

The flames surrounding the skull symbolize creativity and the burning desire to "make magic happen". For me, creating games/art/entertainment isn't just a job--it's something I MUST do. Like an itch you have to scratch, I must create. It consumes me; it fuels me.

I was feeling very "metal" today. Ready to kick ass and make sick stuff! So the new "HakJak" logo reflects that.

I tried using premade fonts, but none of them felt right. Didn't flow as well. Didn't feel personal enough. So I just drew my own font instead. Feeling good about how it turned out. Hopefully it's legible enough.

Anyways, there it is: my new online persona. HakJak reimagined.

Pretty soon you'll start seeing this little fella take over my old HakJak accounts and eventually greet you at the start of a brand new game!
