Meet Colin McInerney!

Hi, it’s me, Colin! I’ve been making video games since I was a child, and have worked in the industry on and off since 2012. After attending Columbia College Chicago and getting some QA experience during my summers at Bethesda Softworks, I moved to Austin for Grad School. From there I joined up with Owlchemy Labs and cut my teeth testing and writing for some of the most well-known VR titles, including Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator.

I also participated in game jams, released a mobile game (All Hams on Deck), and started taking on some contract work. As the winds blew, I left for different-but-similarly-colored pastures at Ready at Dawn, learned a bunch of cool programming tricks, and then came to HakJak.

Here I was hired as a writer who can also write code, and am slowly but surely being passed duties on narrative systems, with the intent to take over them all, muahahahaha! Someday I’ll probably run my own game studio independently, but Pigeon Simulator was too fun of an idea to not want to hop onto HakJak's wild ride.

Me in a nutshell:

  • I primarily write and code, but know enough about art and sound to nod along at a GDC talk.

  • I do a buncha side projects, and have three (woah!) releasing this year.

  • I like to play drums!

  • I have 3300 (and counting) hours in Dota 2. I consider this a red flag.

  • I have a voice credit in every Owlchemy Labs game through Cosmonious High, including being the voice of Oog in that game, and GigBot in Vacation Simulator: Back to Job.

  • My parents and brother are all lawyers – I’m the family weirdo who picked a different career.

All my other stuff can be found at https://colin.how, and I’m extremely on Twitter for reasons I still can’t quite justify to myself.

Pee pee poo poo,

Colin
